With reference to the “State of Spam and Phishing” report in March from Symantec,phishing attacks are rampant globally. It has been increased by 16% within 1 month. The recent phishing attacks’ target is not only focused in financial industry, but also many other market areas. Users may be trapped by the phishers easily.

Phishing was commonly found active in financial industry. Many people have a wrong concept that phishing attack will only happen in the financial issue, such that they overlook to take precautions. According to Symantec, it was found some hackers even claimed the efficiency of the online auction could be increased by some tools. In fact, they stole user’s information for illegal use.

According to the report, it also states that those spam email are usually sent with subject like Valentine's Day, Haiti Earthquake and Chile Earthquake. Symantec suggests email users not to open the emails that from unknown sources , as those emails lead you to the website that may contain malware.

Email users are suggested not to open the emails that from unknown sources and links, or users may check out and filter those spam email by Anti-spam software / systems in the markets. It is also suggested to backup the email system regularly , to prevent data loss due to the attack of Hackers and restore your email system.
